For a bug report, please include your iPhone model, iOS version, the app version (App Store → synthtower → Version History) and what you did just before it happened. A screen recording helps a lot.

Frequently asked questions

How do I save my project?

Nothing saves on its own. When you are happy with a track, tap Save in the studio bar, give the project a name and confirm. It is now in your library and you can bring it back any time with Load.

If you leave a track without saving, your changes are gone. Save early, save often, and save under a new name when you want to keep an earlier version.

How do I export a track?

Tap Save and choose Export WAV. Pick the master (one stereo file) or the stems (one file per synth, for mixing elsewhere). The app renders the audio and opens the iOS share sheet, where you can send it to Files, AirDrop, Mail, a DAW on your Mac or any other app.

Exported audio is yours. You may release it and sell it anywhere.

The microphone does not work

iOS asks for microphone permission the first time you press record. If you tapped Don't Allow, or the switch was turned off later, open iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone and turn on synthtower. Then go back to the app and press record again.

If the permission is on and you still hear nothing: close other apps that may be holding the microphone (calls, voice memos, video calls), unplug and re-plug headphones, and try once more. Still stuck? Write to us.

What does HOLD do?

Hold latches notes. With HOLD on, a note keeps sounding after you lift your finger, as one continuous drone, until you switch HOLD off or stop the track. Playing a new key glides the drone to the new pitch instead of restarting it. The sequencer does the same: with HOLD on, it plays its steps legato through that single held voice.

It is the quickest way to get a sustained bass, a drone pad or a long lead that you can shape with the filter while it plays.

Why do some knobs turn grey?

A grey knob is not broken: it simply has nothing to act on right now. The most common case is HOLD. Knobs like ATTACK, DECAY, SUSTAIN, RELEASE, PLUCK and the filter envelope shape the start and end of a note. A held drone never restarts and never ends, so those knobs go grey while HOLD is on. Switch HOLD off and they come back to life.

One exception: on LEAD with an arpeggio running, every step retriggers the note, so the envelope knobs stay active even under HOLD.

Can I use my own sounds?

Yes. Open the SAMPLER and either record with the microphone or import a WAV file from Files. Trim the sample, save it to your bank and play it from the keys or the sequencer like any other instrument.

Does the app need an internet connection or an account?

No. There is no account to create and nothing to sign in to. The app works completely offline, on a plane, in a basement, anywhere. Nothing you make is uploaded.

Will I lose my projects if I delete the app?

Yes. Projects, samples and recordings live only in the app's storage on your iPhone. Deleting the app deletes them. Export anything you want to keep before you delete, or make sure your iPhone backup (iCloud or computer) is up to date, because the app's data is part of that backup.

I bought the app on one iPhone. Can I use it on another?

Yes. synthtower is a one-time purchase tied to your Apple ID. On a new iPhone, open the App Store, find synthtower and tap the download icon. Apple will not charge you again. Projects do not move automatically between devices: export them, or restore the new phone from a backup of the old one.

Refunds and purchase problems

Purchases are handled by Apple, so refunds are too. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with the Apple ID you bought the app with and choose the purchase. We cannot issue App Store refunds ourselves, but if something in the app went wrong, tell us and we will fix it.
